New year, new you right? We’re sure that you’ve all been asked what your New Years resolutions are for 2024 and for many that could be quitting traditional smoking - which for some might sound really easy, but for those of us who have tried previously we know it’s not as straight forward as putting the packet down.
Choosing to make the switch to vaping this year means you are able to control your own nicotine cravings and give yourself a better chance at successfully quitting - did you know that you are roughly twice as likely to quit smoking if you use a vape containing nicotine compared to other nicotine replacement products (NRT) such as nicotine patches or gum?
With over 4.7 million adult vapers in Britain alone & the NHS Better Health campaign endorsing vaping as a smoke cessation tool, there has never been a better time to take your health into your own hands and switch to a substantially less harmful option than traditional smoking.
Why make the switch to vaping?
Traditional tobacco smoking has been identified as being incredibly harmful by a variety of sources and the leading cause of a variety of preventable disease and death. This includes the NHS who identify that smoking causes 70% of all cases of lung cancer, due to cigarette smoke containing at least 70 known carcinogen harmful substances, as revealed by Cancer Research UK.
Smoking is known to cause forms of cancer and other life-altering diseases, including an increase in symptoms of blood clots, which the British Heart Foundation have advised can increase the risk of heart attacks up to four times greater and stroke two times greater for those smoking.
E-cigarettes, also known as vapes or vape kits, were created to offer a further alternative to already pre-existing NRTs, such a gum or patches, to allow users the ability to inhale and exhale a vapour, whilst cutting out the incredibly harmful chemicals that are found in traditional cigarettes.
These products have been found to be 95% less harmful than smoking by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities and further research has been conducted by people such as London South Bank University or Cochrane who found that vaping is a more effective stop smoking tool than other NRT options - giving you a much greater chance of successfully quitting smoking for good.
